New Kids on the Block
Vraic
Super-talented Welsh chef Nathan Davies – founder of Michelin-starred SY23 in Aberystwyth – has set his sights on conquering Guernsey with the launch of Vraic this July. Perched above Chouet Bay, the intimate 25-cover venue draws its inspiration from the Basque grill restaurants of Bilbao and San Sebastian. Expect sharing-sized whole fish and bone-in meats, including charcoal-grilled turbot, sea bass, langoustines and scallops kissed by hand-picked island seaweed. The interiors, meanwhile, will showcase timber cladding, live-edge flooring and hardwood seating draped with sheepskins – all very Basque rural chic. The upper terrace, boasting views of the North Shore, is the best place for an aperitif on the island, running the gamut from craft ales to exceptional Spanish sparkling and aromatic Txakoli. We can't wait.

Shanghai Me
Dubai-based Fundamental Hospitality is bringing a touch of Far Eastern glamour to London this July, as the Hilton Park Lane prepares to unveil the hotly anticipated Shanghai Me. The Instagram crowd are already salivating at the prospect: designer Richard Saunders has gone full throttle on the décor, using sumptuous, deep-red velvet seating, low-level lighting and lacquered finishes to create a sophisticated, sensual feel. Yet the Pan-Asian cooking also takes centre stage at this luxury address – Shanghai Me will offer an expansive “dim sum library” in addition to established classics such as miso-glazed cod and Cantonese-style roast duck. All dishes are designed for sharing, while the adjoining lounge bar, Bund, will offer cocktails and small plates in a more relaxed setting. A generous selection of deluxe vino, including vintage Champagne and rare Burgundy, is also on the cards. Gōn būi!

Cafe Murano Marylebone
The inimitable Angela Hartnett is bringing her celebrated Cafe Murano concept to Marylebone this July, taking over the former residence of AOK Kitchen on Dorset Street. Expect the same emphasis on relaxed - but polished - hospitality and affordable Italian dining that made its predecessor such a local favourite. A concise, seasonal menu will include gnocchi in slow-braised rabbit ragu, crispy chicken Milanese, and the much-loved zesty lemon polenta cake finished with mascarpone cream. Yet Cafe Murano Marylebone will add some new touches - it is the first venue to extend service into breakfast hours. Meanwhile, a small terrace will likely be packed with patrons enjoying a glass of Prosecco or Greco di Tufo. Hartnett has done it again.
