NEW Monday Sommelier Club launches in London

A brand-new London social club has just been announced, specifically for sommeliers to enjoy. Its name… The Monday Somm Club, a colab between city restaurant Cabotte, Galvin Restaurants, and TRADE Hospitality.

Master Sommeliers and Cabotte co-founders, Xavier Rousset (former SWA judge) and Gearoid Devaney, have partnered with legendary restaurateurs and chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin to launch a monthly lunch club for sommeliers.

What is The Monday Somm Club?

The Monday Somm Club will take place on the last Monday of each month as a private forum for sommeliers and professional wine buyers to connect, network and enjoy each other’s company and wine discoveries.

Cabotte & TRADE Hospitality co-founder Xavier Rousset commented: ‘Sommeliers are a unique breed in that they live, work and breathe wine, but rarely have the opportunity to enjoy it together. The Monday Somm Club is a chance for sommeliers to meet up informally and enjoy some fantastic wine with like-minded people; an opportunity to discover some new gems, with no pressure or expectation other than to enjoy themselves.”

Where is The Monday Somm Club located?

The monthly lunch club will take place at either Cabotte (48 Gresham St, EC2) or a central London Galvin restaurant. Guests will be encouraged to bring a bottle of wine in accordance with each month’s wine theme and will taste each other’s wines during a relaxed three-course lunch, with dishes selected to complement the wine style being tasted. Tickets will be accessibly priced to encourage a wide range of sommeliers to attend.

How much will The Monday Somm Club cost?

The initial Monday Somm Club will kick off on Monday 28th June at Galvin La Chapelle (35 Spital Square, E1), with the theme of ‘Northern Rhone: St Joseph & Hermitage’. Tickets cost £40 per person and include an aperitif, a three-course lunch, coffee and service charge. Spaces are limited to 16 guests, and guests are requested to bring a bottle matching the theme.

Chris Galvin comments: “Jeff and I have always wanted the opportunity to cook for the wine community, especially sommeliers at La Chapelle, in a unique environment where they can relax, share wines and stories together. As chefs we don’t often get the chance to meet our colleagues and thought it would be great to provide a space for these guys to enjoy.”

How can I get tickets to The Monday Somm Club?

Tickets for Monday 28th June at Galvin La Chapelle will go on sale from Monday 31st May and are only available to purchase via the TRADE Hospitality app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
