New Kids on the Block

Morchella

Named after the much-loved chef favourite, Morchella (morel) has brought a touch of La Dolce Vita to a quiet corner of Clerkenwell. Italian small plates is the name of the game, with larger portions of lamb ribs, Sicilian fish stew, and salt-baked poussin served alongside an extensive selection of Old World classics. As an added bonus, Morchella (like its sister restaurant Perilla) does not levy an additional 12.5% service charge. Instead, it is simply and fairly incorporated in the price of each dish or bottle of wine. Transparency indeed.

Pioneered by veteran restaurateur Ellen Chew, Singapulah will be set over four storeys and includes a retail and deli area selling Singaporean homeware and food brands. “Singapulah heralds a completely fresh restaurant concept, a vibrant celebration of the finest Singaporean cuisine, culture, and design in the heart of London,” says its founder. We can't wait.

Trejo's Tacos London

Esteemed actor Danny Trejo is bringing a touch of Hollywood pizzazz to west London this month, launching the first European outpost of Trejo's Tacos. Yet this delicious Mexican standby won't be the only plato on the menu: expect breakfast burritos in the morning and steak asada, Baja-style beer-battered fish and shrimp tostadas as the sun sets. Two cocktail bars and in-house DJs will keep the fiesta going until the early hours.
