New Kids on the Block

Josephine Chelsea

Claude Bosi (ex-Bibendum) and his wife Lucy are poised to bring a little slice of Gallic cooking to Fulham Road at the end of January 2024, launching a new French restaurant called Josephine. Named after Claude's late grandmother, the venue is modelled on the iconic bouchons of Lyon – a small, friendly bistro that serves up traditional dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. Expect such classics as Confit du Canard on the daily list of specials, in addition to a set “Menu Des Canut”; the term Canut referring to Lyon's once prolific silk weavers.

Juno Notting Hill

Large groups – look away now. This new petit Omakase (a chef-curated dinner) is based on a longstanding Japanese tradition that translates as "I leave it up to you”, housed in the fusion restaurant Los Mochis in Notting Hill. The concept is straightforward enough: just six diners can enjoy a 15-course extravaganza replete with sushi, Kagoshima wagyu A4 and seared Hokkaido scallops with caramelised fig and truffle goma. Juno opened on January 11 and costs £180 per person for the tasting menu.

Hansom Restaurant & Wine Bar

The charming town of Bedale in North Yorkshire will soon welcome Hansom Restaurant & Wine Bar to its expanding collection of top-notch eateries. According to co-owner Ruth Hansom, “We will offer a contemporary tasting menu experience [seven courses], combining only the finest produce from the land, earth and sea into a purposefully-designed epicurean adventure of luxury and provenance.” This unabashed decadence takes place in a Grade II-listed property; a more informal wine bar will offer small plates for around 30 covers. At the current time of writing, Hansom is due to open February 2024.
